Ripley Road Upgrades

The Ripley Valley is poised for another major step forward, with the much-anticipated upgrades to Ripley Road and Fischer Road making significant progress.

These improvements are set to deliver vital infrastructure for one of Australia’s fastest-growing urban areas, ensuring seamless connections for current and future residents of Amory at Ripley.

What the Upgrades Include

Backed by $24 million in catalyst infrastructure funding through a partnership between Ipswich City Council and Economic Development Queensland, the upgrades represent a transformative investment in Ripley’s future. The project includes:

  • Ripley Road Upgrades: The road will be expanded to four lanes from the Cunningham Highway to Monterea Road, significantly enhancing traffic flow and safety.
  • Fischer Road Enhancements: A 750m stretch from Nevis Street to Monterea Road will be upgraded to a two-lane urban road.
  • Multimodal Features: New on-road cycle lanes, shared pathways, and footpaths will improve accessibility for all commuters.
  • Capacity Boost: The upgrades will unlock approximately 4,600 new housing lots, supporting the growing community and reducing pressure on existing infrastructure.

Meeting Growing Demand

Ripley Valley’s rapid growth is driving these changes. With nearly 2,000 new residents joining the community in the last financial year alone and daily traffic on Ripley Road expected to increase by 66% by 2026, these upgrades are critical.

Ipswich City Council has prioritised the section of Ripley Road between the Cunningham Highway and Fischer Road due to its adjoining development activity. Once complete, the road will form a key link between the Cunningham and Centenary Highways, providing faster, safer connections for residents and commuters.

A Collaborative Approach

Ipswich Council is taking a staged approach to designing and constructing the upgrades, covering a 2.6km stretch of Ripley Road. Property acquisitions will also be managed collaboratively, with council committing to ongoing consultation with affected owners.

Engagement with the wider community will continue via the Shape Your Ipswich website, where residents can find the latest updates, ask questions, and share feedback about the project.

Investment in Ripley’s Future

These upgrades are more than just infrastructure—they reflect the commitment to Ripley’s development as a connected, liveable community. For residents of Amory, this means enhanced connectivity, safer commutes and a future-proofed community ready to grow alongside them.
