Mother’s Day is just around the corner (Sunday 11 May, to be precise) and there’s no better time to show the mums and other amazing women in our lives just how much they mean to us.
If you’re looking for a special way to celebrate close to home, plenty of wonderful events and activities are happening around Ripley and Ipswich to make the day memorable.
Treat Mum to a Delicious Meal
Many local favourites are putting on something special for Mother’s Day. Whether it’s a delicious morning tea, a buffet lunch, or a relaxed brunch, you’ll find great options to please any foodie-loving-mums. Be sure to book early – spots fill fast!
Get out in Nature
For something a little different, consider getting your hands dirty and helping to restore the banks of Bundamba Creek! This is perfect for any green-thumb mums who enjoy spending time outdoors.
Every mother or carer registered will also receive a complimentary gift and treat to enjoy at the planting. Don’t forget to pack a picnic and enjoy a day spent giving back to the environment, and Mum!
Explore Local Markets
If Mum loves a stroll through the markets, the Handmade Expo Mega Mother’s Day Market is on Saturday 10 May from 9am – 1pm. There’ll be more than 110 stalls to browse, selling everything from handmade items to woodwork, candles, clothing and local produce. And in the afternoon, Ripley Markets will have a great line-up of delicious food trucks, arts, and crafts, homewares and live music to enjoy from 3pm – 8pm.
It’s a great chance to pick up something unique and support local businesses.
Relax with a Day Out
Take it slow and spend the day exploring Ipswich’s beautiful parks and gardens. Pack a picnic and head to Nerima Gardens for a peaceful afternoon, or treat Mum to something extra special with a luxurious picnic experience at Spicers Hidden Vale.
Surrounded by gorgeous scenery, Mum can relax in an intimate, beautifully styled setting complete with elegant glassware and table decorations. Indulge in a gourmet spread of cured meats, pickles, dips, sweets, and a bottle of sparkling wine.
Give the Gift of Experience
Sometimes, the best gift is time spent together. Consider a hot air balloon ride over the Scenic Rim or a pampering spa treatment at one of Ipswich’s day spas to make Mum’s day unforgettable.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, there’s no shortage of ways to make this Mother’s Day feel special close to home.
