From twinkling markets and outdoor movies to Christmas carnivals and family-friendly celebrations, there was no shortage of ways to embrace the season. Here’s a wrap-up of the wonderful events set to light up Ipswich and its surrounds this Christmas.
Heritage Christmas Market
22 November
The festive season begins with the Heritage Christmas Market, hosted by the Ipswich Historical Society. Expect handcrafted gifts, vintage treasures, local produce and plenty of nostalgic charm, the perfect way to ease into Christmas.
Christmas Tree Lighting
27 November – 5 January
Watch the heart of Ipswich come alive as the community gathers for the annual City Christmas Tree Lighting. With entertainment, carols and a magical countdown moment, this event truly marks the start of the season.
Santa and Sirens
27 November
Also on the 27th, keep an ear out for festive tunes and cheerful sirens as emergency service vehicles escort Santa through local neighbourhoods. Santa and Sirens is a delight for kids and families, bringing Christmas cheer right to your street.
Ripley Town Centre Merry Movie Night
29 November
Pack a picnic rug and settle in under the stars for Merry Movie Night at Ripley Town Centre. Enjoy a screening of modern Christmas classic, The Grinch (2018), on the big screen, with popcorn and fairy floss for all and a special visit from Santa and his friends!
Brassall Christmas in the Park
28 November
Join the community for Brassall Christmas in the Park, a family event filled with live entertainment, food stalls, activities and plenty of festive spirit. It’s a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas weekend.
Stony Creek Brewing Twelve Beers of Christmas
6 – 21 December
For the adults, Stony Creek Brewing Co. will be releasing their festive lineup of limited-edition brews. Running from 6–21 December, the Twelve Beers of Christmas is set to bring seasonal flavours, live music and relaxed summer evenings.
Ipswich Handmade Expo Christmas Extravaganza
